As Štinjan is very close to the town of Pula there is really no need for a car. However having a car for part of the visit is recommended. There are many beautiful places you will have easy access to this way, and the roads in Istria are good. Here are som ways to get around if you are not planning on driving.

In Croatia cash is king. ATMs are all over the place and they take most debit and credit cards. Most grocers and businesses will accept card payment, but for some resaurants, markets etc cash is a must. Tipping in a restaurant is always done in cash. 5-10% is appropriate.
Most things you need you will be able to find in Pula. However, some days you might want to stay close to the house. Štinjan is small, but there are still things you can do and get.

Pula enjoys a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and warm spring and autumn. The winters are rainy and damp and can feel very very cold.
